Each Indian household has several fragile items that have some sentimental attachments and need special care during the move. But what items are specifically considered fragile items? And the answer is the items made of glass, ceramics, crystal, etc. Items like musical instruments, electronic gadgets, and all those items that can bend and easily break. All such items require special packing needs and handling.

  • Keep weather and road conditions in mind while packing fragile items. Use packing material wisely for packing your precious glassware before loading it onto the truck that might have to ride through uneven roads and bad weather.
  • Packing material is the most important thing that you need to take right. For packing fragile items, you should use the following packing supplies – sturdy boxes, bubble wrap, packing tape, packing paper, markers, foam sheets, peanuts, old towels, old linen etc. These items work as magic for your fragile items.
  • Don’t forget to cushion the items in the box as it will prevent fragile items from breaking during the move. Before placing the items in the box, add a thick layer of packing material, fill the gaps in the box, add layers if required on the top and wrap each item separately.
  • Avoid packing all heavy items in one box; instead, mix heavy and light items.
  • The weight of each box must be enough to carry.
  • Put fragile items in the double boxes- first place the delicate items in a small box and then keep them in a larger one. Fill the gap between the boxes with peanuts or paper.
  • Use high-quality packing tape to seal the box. If required double seal them and also reinforce the seams and corners for extra protection.
  • For electronic or kitchenware, it is better to use original packing. For TVs and computers, use original packing as they have a firm holding of the item.
  • Labelling or marking your boxes is very important while moving fragile items. This simplifies the loading and unloading of the moving boxes.
  • You can mention the contents of the boxes on the top.
  • Set the priority for loading, unloading and unpacking of such items.
