  • Set a strategy – Unpack room-by-room

Before unpacking your moving boxes, it is better to plan your unpacking. You must have a strategy to simplify the unpacking. The best and most efficient way for unpacking is picking one room at a time. Unpacking all the boxes at once will create confusion. Set the priority for unpacking each room.

  • Protect walls and floors of new home

You don’t want to ruin the floor and walls of a new house while unpacking boxes, large appliances, and furniture. So, prepare your house for unpacking. To prevent scratches and damage to the walls, you can cover them with cardboard. Cover floors with old sheets, cardboard and other protective items

  • Unbox the essential items first

You might have packed a bag or box of essential items and this should be the first box when you start unpacking. This box contains all the items that you might need on the very first night in your new home. It will allow you to keep things handy.

  • Sort the boxes by room

Once the moving company unload the boxes ask them to put each box according to the label on them. Sort these boxes by the labels and decide which box needs to be opened on priority.

  • Unpack by necessity

Each box need not be opened immediately. Boxes containing seasonal clothes and festival decorations do need to be opened immediately. You can keep them packed and this will reduce the number of boxes that are required to be unpacked at first.

After the bag or box of essentials, your priority should be the kitchen. Start unpacking the boxes with the kitchen label. These boxes will contain the food grains, spices, kitchenware and more. Handle each box carefully as there might be fragile items inside.

After the kitchen, get ready to set up your bedroom. If possible, try to set your bed for a comfortable sleep after such a tiring day. Pull out some curtains and bedding to set the place.

Unpack the bathroom box, hang the shower curtains and set up the toiletries. After doing all the hard work, you need a shower to rinse off the stress.

  • Get rid of packing material

After unpacking each room get rid of the boxes, wraps and tape waste. This will keep the place clean or it will be easy to clean after the complete set up of the house.

  • Each family member should help unpack

Make your final moment of the move memorable. Ask all the members of the family to help unpack the boxes. This will give you some time to spend with each other and everyone can give some opinion for decorating the home.
